Waiting

"The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord." (Lamentations 3)
"Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him.....Those who wait on the Lord shall inherit the earth."(Psalm 37)
"I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth -Praise to our God; many will see it and fear, and will trust in the Lord." ( Psalm 40)
Sometimes, all we can do is wait. Sometimes, what God wants most of all from us is not something we can do, but rather for us to be still and wait and hope and trust.
Sometimes, there is something that you should do, something that needs to be fixed or tended to, or made right. But not always. Or maybe not right now.
God can work in us powerfully when we can just "Be still and know that [He is] God."(Psalm 46)
When we are distracted with trying to figure everything out ourselves, we lose sight of who is really in control.
I very much want to do everything I can to make things, make myself, the best it can be. But only God can make things the best they can be.
Brian likes to remind me of this, since he sees how hard I try to get things right, always striving for that optimal balance of everything. And I do feel like I try to be aware of that, that my efforts are only worth anything if God will bless them. It's all Him.
But it's good for me to be reminded.....It helps me take the focus off myself and relieves me too of the guilt that tries to tell me that I'm a failure and whatever is wrong is my fault. This world is sinful and broken, and nothing will never be completely perfect or right or fixed here. But God made a way for us to one day live in a new, perfect world with Him forever, through Jesus. Jesus did all the work that was needed for perfection to be restored.
So now, we have things we want to fix and make better, and that's OK, as long as we keep it in perspective.
And we should remember that sometimes the thing that we need to do is Nothing. Just wait.
There have been alot of times in my life where I have waited to act and found that by waiting, the outcome was even better than I expected or hoped it would be.
Doing nothing is not always bad; if it is accompanied by hope and trust and prayer it can be even more helpful than any thing we could have done ourselves.
We've all heard the phrase "things will work themselves out", but really it's God working it all out for us. And it is safe to let Him do that, because unlike us, He knows all things. He can see how everything will play out, and He has promised to work things out for our good. ( Romans 8)
So if you find yourself overwhelmed, struggling to make decisions, feeling like things are impossible and it's out of your capability, 1) you're probably right, it is out of your league, 2) just give it to God and tell Him that you are going to wait for him to work it out, and 3) ask Him to help you know when you should do something.
And then wait. He will help you. Because He cares and He loves you, and He loves it when we will trust Him enough to wait on Him.
"But those who wait in the Lord will renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."(Isaiah 40)
Our weariness and depression and anxiety and the overwhelming feelings we get are for sure a consequence of living in this broken world. But perhaps, very often, they are also because we are carrying burdens we should not be carrying, because we are trying to do things ourselves, rather than waiting on the Lord.
Are you moving ahead when God is telling you to be still? Are you dragging a heavy weight that your Savior would gladly and easily carry for you, if only you would wait for His timing?
"Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him and He shall bring it to pass." (Psalm 37)

This Is Going Well // DNRS review

{This is going W E L L}  Brian gave me this mug for Christmas, and it's my favorite.❤  All the work I've been doing to retrain my brain and heal my body has been going very well, and I am so excited and optimistic about the future!  I mentioned previously that I would be starting the Dynamic Neural Retraining System, (DNRS), which works with neuroplasticity based techniques to heal an impaired limbic system, which is essentially a brain injury that results from trauma and causes your brain to process and store information as if you are in a constant state of "fight or flight", or emergency response.  Trauma is relative to every individual, and there are different types of trauma; obvious things like death, war, victim of a crime, major accidents, and those sort of things are Traumas with a capital 'T'. Things like illness, chronic stress, unstable family life, negative relationships, and many others, are  traumas with a little 't'; on ...

What IEat#9

Dinner- I love making breakfast for dinner when I don't feel like cooking or have to make dinner fast. Scrambled eggs with spinach, kidney bean, bacon, and GF toast with cashew butter, honey and cinnamon. Dinner- steamed broccoli, Alexia's sweet potato fries (love that Costco has a big bag of them right now!), and beef burger patty with avocado and bacon. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner- This is what I ate during my last NAET treatment 25 hour avoidance phase. There is a different list of "safe foods" with every treatment, depending on what you're avoiding, and they recommend that you limit yourself to just two or three foods, as the more variety you consume, the more energy it takes for your body to digest and ideally you just want to let your body's energy be as unhindered as possible so you can achieve optimal results. So this time I ate sweet potato, beef roast, and white rice. Yes, I felt a little guilty for the high amount of starch, but its only ...

Fear Is A Liar

Things have been a bit rough lately for me. You would think that at some point you would somehow get used to the rollercoaster ride of chronic illness, but it really doesn't get easier. Maybe you understand some things more, or learn to cope with symptoms, or give up on things ever going back to how they used to be, but the little comfort there is in the familiarity of "we've been here before" isn't enough to get you through it all.  I realized that maybe one reason it doesn't get easier to go through the ups and downs is because I have not lost hope. I have not stopped living the good days to their full potential. Maybe that makes the bad days hurt a little more, but if you can't embrace the good days, I think that's a sign of moving to the next level of despair.  Don't give up. As Spurgeon says, in one of my favorite devotionals, " Be full of hope! Hope forever! For God does not fail you." (July 21 evening -Morning and Evening-Sp...
