Hello World

Hello world. This is my blog. In case you're new here, I just wanted to say a few thing...
My name is Kayla and apparently I am a writer... I write because I enjoy it; I find it liberating and helpful and what I call "a form of self therapy" for me.
I truly hope that you can be encouraged here, but also know that I do write first for myself; this is an outlet, a sorting place and a documentary of my journey.
As I have grown through my personal trials, I have had a growing desire to help and inspire others, so that definitely is part of the goal of this blog. I have experienced many times the feeling of being misunderstood or felt completely alone or crazy, and I want anyone who reads this to know that if you are experiencing those things, you are definitely not alone.
This is a place where I share my faith, my fears, my food, my family life, and my feelings.
I would prefer that you read this blog in it's entirity, starting from the first post and going through to the most recent. Mostly because I feel that I have grown alot since I started writing and I would like you to understand who I am now, whereas starting at the latest post and reading through to the oldest kind of takes you backwards. But most importantly, I want you to get "the whole picture."
Also know that while I am open to sharing things, this is not a place where I feel like getting into heated discussions or long debates. Comments are welcome though😊.
I do not intend to insult or upset anyone, but I do write honestly and true to myself, so that might happen....we can't all agree on everything. And that's ok with me.
It is my heartfelt desire to encourage others, specifically in their faith and their personal health journey, and to inspire them to self reflection and improvement, leading them to be the best that they can be for God, for others, and for themselves.
 Welcome.💛

My Fish Cakes Recipe -(Paleo)-

I am trying to incorporate more fish into my diet, and these delicious fish cakes are a new family favorite! They can be made with tuna or salmon, salmon having slightly more to offer nutritionally; high Omega 3 fats, vitamin D, and selenium. (and more!) Fish is so good for your brain and heart, and can improve your mood, weight, and overall health. Interestingly, the selenium in fish helps keep our bodies from absorbing the mercury found in fish! God's good design :) This article  explains that in more detail, if you're a "nerd" like me and love learning about food. Anyway, on to the recipe! Ingredients- 3 cans salmon, tuna or sardines 3 TBS mayonnaise 3 TBS coconut flour 3 eggs 3 tsp mustard 1/4 tsp salt pepper 1/4 cup chopped green onions (1) Open canned fish and empty into med/large bowl. The fish I use has no added water, so I pour all the juices in too, no draining! Try to keep the fish somewhat off to side. Add the coconut flour to the j...

WhatIEat#43

Oatmeal cake, a classic recipe my mom would make when I was growing up. I have adapted it to suit my family's diet; it is gluten free, lower sugar, and I use pecans on top instead of cornflakes. It is so comforting and cozy to eat; the spices are warming and fragrant, and the texture is soft and moist. It is one of my favorite treats, and I'm so thankful to be able to enjoy it again with my family! A nice bowl of oatmeal, with molasses, chia seeds, cinnamon, cashew butter, butter, coconut oil, hemp hearts and soaked/sprouted pecans. I wasn't able to eat oatmeal for years, due to the pain and bloating it caused. But I'm thrilled to say that I have eaten it many times now with zero digestive issues. It's crazy and wonderful and my brain is still getting used to the idea of it being safe and normal, but every time I eat it, my brain gets a little more comfortable with it. I'm not scared, but I can hear my brain saying, "wait...I thought this w...

This Is Going Well // DNRS review

{This is going W E L L}  Brian gave me this mug for Christmas, and it's my favorite.❤  All the work I've been doing to retrain my brain and heal my body has been going very well, and I am so excited and optimistic about the future!  I mentioned previously that I would be starting the Dynamic Neural Retraining System, (DNRS), which works with neuroplasticity based techniques to heal an impaired limbic system, which is essentially a brain injury that results from trauma and causes your brain to process and store information as if you are in a constant state of "fight or flight", or emergency response.  Trauma is relative to every individual, and there are different types of trauma; obvious things like death, war, victim of a crime, major accidents, and those sort of things are Traumas with a capital 'T'. Things like illness, chronic stress, unstable family life, negative relationships, and many others, are  traumas with a little 't'; on ...
